Head of Scouting

Norwich City Football Club is seeking to appoint a Head of Scouting to lead and manage our global scouting operation. This is a pivotal role in shaping the club’s long‑term sporting strategy and ensuring we identify and recruit talent that will drive sustainable success on the pitch.

The successful candidate will oversee the club’s scouting processes and methodologies, managing and developing a high-performing team across live scouting, video analysis, and data-informed evaluation. They will be responsible for delivering evidence-based player assessments and recommendations that align with the club’s playing philosophy and strategic objectives.

Working closely with senior football leadership, the Head of Scouting will play a central part in sourcing talent that strengthens the squad now and into the future.

Key tasks/responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead the club’s global scouting operation to ensure we identify and recruit talent ahead of our competitors
  • Guide and support the scouting team, fostering a results-focused culture with clear goals and measurable outcomes
  • Integrate live scouting, video scouting, and data analytics to deliver objective, actionable player evaluations and recommendations
  • Develop and maintain target lists to ensure the club can remain agile and dynamic at all times
  • Play a leading a role in the collation and management of market intelligence, ensuring it is consistently recorded, stored, and analysed to support recruitment decisions
  • Contribute to squad planning and succession planning decisions
  • Collaborate with the Sporting Director, Assistant Sporting Director and Head Coach to define positional requirements and recruitment priorities
  • Develop a strong relationship with the Head of Emerging Talent to ensure effective and efficient market coverage in order to optimise the identification and recruitment of emerging talent for our teams
  • To act in a manner that supports the Club’s Values of Growth, Integrity, Belonging, Resilience, Pride and Commitment

Qualifications and Experience: 

  • FA Level 4 Talent Management, Strategy and Leadership in Football (Essential)
  • Coaching Qualifications (desirable)
  • A minimum of 5 years experience within a professional football scouting & recruitment environment
  • Extensive experience leading teams or within senior roles in an established scouting and recruitment operation
  • Demonstratable track record in player identification, evaluation and recruitment with a comprehensive knowledge of players within the global football market
